IC Insights: Global semiconductor sales are expected to grow by 11% in 2022, reaching US$680.6 billion

According to IC Insights’ forecast in January’s Semiconductor Industry Express, global integrated circuit revenue is expected to grow by 11% in 2022, reaching a record high of US$565.1 billion. In the economic recovery in 2021, the unit shipments of many widely used semiconductor products cannot keep up with the increasing demand of system and equipment manufacturers (including automakers). According to IC Insights’ January Semiconductor Industry Express, IC unit purchases increased by 22%, while O-S-D equipment shipments increased by 20%. Considering that in the past 10 years, IC shipments have grown at a compound annual growth rate of 7.4%, while O-S-D units have grown at a compound annual growth rate of 4.7%, the current growth rate is amazing. IC Insights predicts that there will be more than 1.3 trillion semiconductor devices (about 432 billion ICs and 889.3 billion O-S-D devices) shipped in 2022, and both market segments will grow by 10%.
